Connected Vehicle Roadside Units (RSUs) in the US are designed to link public transportation, passenger vehicles, and vehicles on highways, roads and bike paths. The RSUs handle the communication between infrastructure and vehicles; in doing so, they support the prioritisation of buses and emergency vehicles as well as the detection of vulnerable road users.

The backdrop is a US government plan to allocate $6.4 billion over five years to fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions – a budget that will also help support V2X infrastructure projects. In conjunction with these plans, V2X technology provider Autotalks will work with Yunex Traffic to introduce V2X technology in the US. Under the collaboration, the two companies will install Yunex Traffic’s RSU2X, high-performance roadside units (RSUs) for connected vehicles equipped with Autotalks’ V2X chipsets, in the states of Florida and Colorado.
