Autotalks and Commsignia lead the deployment of smart highways in Europe
Setting the cornerstone for future intelligent highways with top-of-the-line truly secure V2X technology

Autotalks Ltd. has formed an alliance with Commsignia Ltd. to lead the deployment of “Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)” corridors on smart highways of Europe. The tender for deploying the first cornerstone of the “Cooperative ITS corridor – Rotterdam – Frankfurt – Vienna” has been awarded to Alpha-ES Elektronik-System e.K., Autotalks, AFUSOFT and Commsignia, equipping the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area – one of the areas in Germany with the highest traffic loads – with state-of-the-art V2X (Vehicle-to-X) technology to provide real-time safety for passengers.
A safer and more efficient road transportation could save countries billions of euros each year, which is why Transport Ministries of Austria, Germany and The Netherlands announced the foundation of a cross-border C-ITS corridor enabling the deployment of smart infrastructure communication units to set the keystone of future intelligent highways.
The first stage of deployment and interoperability testing based on the actually deployed communication system from AFUSOFT Kommunikationstechnik GmbH, done with vehicles provided by multiple car makers and led by local highway operator Hessen Mobil – Road- and Traffic Management, has ended with a very high success rate, in which Commsignia supplied its integrated ITS-RS2-M Road-Side-Unit (RSU) solution based on Autotalks secure best-in-class V2X chipset.
Autotalks CRATON (ATK4100) V2X Communication Processor and PLUTON (ATK3100) V2X RF Transceiver, offer a complete Automotive grade solution with the most advanced security, supporting concurrently both NIST and Brainpool curves as required by the BSI, the German Federal Office for Information Security. Autotalks high-performance security, assures integrity and reliability of V2X communication – a necessary condition for trusted safety. Furthermore, Autotalks pre-integrated software solution allowed for expediting the development process.
The V2X infrastructure equipment developed by AFUSOFT and Commsignia not only satisfy the worldwide requirements and standards of deployed RSU equipment, but provide lifesaving decisions utilizing the world’s first automotive, real-time V2X stack. Proprietary enhancements assure low-latency and secure communication between road infrastructure and vehicles supporting all standard V2X messages and facilities to date.
